Synopsis:
Born in west Baltimore as LaMont Smith, Dr Rock early on realized a desire to move beyond the crime, drugs and despair of Baltimore city. He found his way through music, martial arts and the responsibility for looking out for 5 younger brothers.
His early musical tastes focused on rock and roll. He played in heavy metal bands that covered Led Zeppelin, UFO, Black Sabbath, etc. His rendition of Hendrix's "Wild Thing" always went over well even with the urban crowds of Harlem Park.
Dr Rock stopped performing for about 20 years and re-emerged about 8 years ago as a solo artist playing a mix of contemporary rock, classic rock, and classic R&B. He started with just a guitar and a console.
If you see a show now, you will hear an incorporation of drums, strings, horns, and other instruments that are the product of a rhythm machine, and a guitar synthesizer, all blended to give a fuller music experience. Simply put, he sounds like a one man band. Download acouple of tracks from the video and download section, or check out the video. Better yet, check out a show!
